Nile Studio
Commanding an incomparable panoramic view of Cairo landmarks and the Nile, the VCS Nile Studio is the premier location for programming of all kinds. News, sport, entertainment – even advertising and drama – programme makers use the versatile 335 square meter space to add a spectacular visual element to their productions. It can be configured for as many as seven cameras, with full gallery support, satellite connectivity and green rooms for guests.
VCS’s latest OB vehicle is a fully-staffed mobile multi-format HD facility
The on-board equipment includes ten Hitachi model SK-3020 HD cameras, which were customized to provide dual HD output of progressive 720p and interlaced 1080i. The mixer is a fully specified Vision 3 from Ross. The LCD monitor wall, is comprised of 20” and 24” DT-VL high definition LCD panels with in-screen UMD area.
In addition to the high performance, multi-format HD specs of the video equipment, the van is equipped with insulation and air-conditioning to endure the hottest of conditions and with air-filtration to withstand all types and intensities of dust – natural, of course, to Egypt Built on a strong Mercedes chassis and over 10m in length the vehicle is enhanced with hydraulic air-ride suspension, making the roughest of terrain a smooth ride whilst also effectively protecting the onboard equipment.
Combined with the existing VCS state-of-the-art HD uplink facility, the OB van is an easy match for the highest of requirements of any international broadcaster.
The on-board HD video equipment and the attendant VCS uplinks have been specified and installed to provide maximum flexibility for shooting anything from documentaries, through drama to sporting events, providing live feeds or fully edited programs. The OB van and its up-to-date specialist crew are available for hire at a moment’s notice, day and night. The OB van can seat up to 13 crew members, and also has space available for further specialist hardware that a client may wish to use.

Video Cairo Sat operates 3 DSNG units, mobile and transportable to news events or productions throughout the region or around the world. The units are fully redundant and include the ability to feed HD material.

Good sound is often the difference between a passable production and a great one. With technology from Sennheiser and Sony to back them up, our engineers put audio on the pedestal it deserves.
Editing
Video Cairo Sat completes its production offering with mobile and office-based editing facilities.

Tape-Based and Non-Linear Editing Suites
News coverage is in general edited tape-to-tape using all significant broadcast tape formats. The company uses Final Cut Pro for news and production editing as well, while feature-length productions are sculpted on Sony ES3 and Pinnacle Liquid Silver workstations.

3-D Graphics Design Suites
The VCS post-production team is equipped with a full range of hardware and software peripherals. Maya, Lightwave 3-D, Decocast, Corel Draw, Softimage, and Adobe After-Effects are all tools used by our artists to create powerful and dynamic logos, on-screen graphics, and animation sequences.
Live News Insert Studio
With its expansive view of the Cairo skyline, correspondents and programme guests use the VCS insert studio for live interviews for broadcasters around the world. Linked to the VCS permanent studio uplinks, the 2-way studio offers an easy solution for broadcasters to get the latest news from Cairo and the region.
New Studios in Egypt Media City
VCS is establishing two fully-equipped, high-quality broadcast studios in Egyptian Media City, each with different dimensions to give maximum versatility for VCS clients and productions.
Both physical and virtual sets are available to suit any project. The first studio is 150 m2 in addition to 168 m2 for technical and administrative purposes. The other studio is 200 m2 in addition to 247 m2 for support.
VCS plans to utilize the studios for client work and to expand its programming and drama production. The studios are under construction and will be in service before the end of 2008. Designed with versatility in mind, Video Cairo Sat’s studios will be constructed to be modular and flexible, able to accommodate productions ranging from simple reporter/anchor live-shots to full-audience talk shows and entertainment programming.
